IBPS RRB recruitment details

Every year IBPS comes up with recruitment notification for Rural Regional Banks (RRB).IBPS RRB exams this year will be conducted in November and December 2016.IBPS RRB exams are gateway to career in rural regional banks..The results or score card will be valid for one year.So if you are interested in rural regional banks then you can go ahead and apply for it.

In this year IBPS RRB 56 Rural Regional Banks are participating. The banks are from all parts of India.You can apply for only one of the Officer posts example Officer 1,Officer 2 and Officer 3. But you can apply for Office Assistant (Multipurpose) and any of the Officer post.You will have to pay separate fees for both the posts.

  • Online registration and application modification – 14.09.2016 to 30.09.2016
  • Payment of application fees – 14.09.2016 to 30.09.2016
  • Download of call letters for online examination (Preliminary) -October 2016 for Officer scale 1 and November 2016 for Office Assistant
  • Online Examination (Preliminary) – Officer Scale-I – 05 & 06.11.2016 and Office Assistant- 12, 13 & 19.11.2016
  • Result of Online exam (Preliminary) – Officer Scale-I – November 2016 and Office Assistant- December 2016
  • Download of Call letter for Online exam (Main) – Officer Scale-I – November 2016 and Office Assistant- December 2016
  • Online Examination (Main) – Officers (I, II & III) – 11.12.2016 and Office Assistant – 18.12.2016

IBPS RRB eligibility criteria

Educational Qualification

I have outlined the eligibility criteria for different posts.You should only fill form if you fulfill the criteria else your candidature will not be accepted.

Office Assistant (Multipurpose)

Candidates with Degree in any discipline can apply for this job.Candidates with computer knowledge will be given preference.Proficiency in local language of the area bank is situated is required.

Officer scale 1

The educational eligibility criteria for this post is same as that of Office Assistant (Multipurpose). But candidates having degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Forestry, Animal Husbandry,Veterinary Science, Agricultural Engineering, Pisciculture,Agricultural Marketing and Cooperation, Information Technology, Management, Law, Economics and Accountancy will be preferred.

Officer scale 2 (General banking Officer)

The educational eligibility criteria for this post is same as that of Officer scale 1. But you need to have 2 year experience in Banks or Financial institutes.

Officer scale 2 (Specialist Officer)

For Information technology officer degree in Electronics and Communications ,Computer Science or Information technology with one year experience is required.It will be added benefit if you have certificate in ASP,PHP,C++,Java,VB,VC,OCP.For Chartered Accountant post you should be Certified Associate from Institute of Chartered Accountant of India with one year experience.

For Law Officer degree in Law with minimum 50% of marks.You should also have 2 years experience as Advocate or Law officer in banks or financial institutes.For Treasury manager CA or MBA in Finance with one year experience is required.For Marketing officer MBA in marketing with one year experience is required.For Agricultural officer degree in Agriculture/ Horticulture/ Dairy/ Animal Husbandry/ Forestry/ Veterinary Science/ Agricultural Engineering/ Pisciculture with minimum 50 % marks and 2 year experience is required.

Officer scale 3

Degree with minimum 50% marks and minimum 5 year experience in Banks or Financial institutes.Preference will be given to candidates with Degree/Diploma in Banking, Finance, Marketing, Agriculture,Horticulture, Forestry, Animal Husbandry, Veterinary Science, Agricultural Engineering, Pisciculture, Agricultural
Marketing and Co-operation, Information Technology,Management, Law, Economics and Accountancy.

Age limit

The age limit mentioned below is applicable for General candidates.For other candidates there is relaxation in age limit.For reserved candidates SC and ST it is relaxed by 5 years.FOr OBC candidates it is 3 years and for person with disability it is 10 years.

Officer scale 3

For this post your age should be above 21 years and below 40 years i.e. candidates should not have been born earlier than 03.09.1976 and later than 31.08.1995 (both dates inclusive).

Officer scale 2

For this post your age should be above 21 years and below 32 years i.e. candidates should not have been born earlier than 03.09.1984 and later than 31.08.1995 (both dates inclusive)

Officer scale 1

For this post your age should be above 18 years and below 30 years i.e. candidates should not have been born earlier than 03.09.1986 and later than 31.08.1998 (both dates inclusive)

Office Assistant (Multipurpose)

Your age should be between 18 years and 28 years i.e. candidates should have not been born earlier than 02.09.1988 and later than 01.09.1998 (both dates inclusive)

Local Language Knowledge

Local language knowledge is required for Candidates appearing for Officer scale 1 and Office Assistant multipurpose.It is not required for Officer of scale 2 or scale 3.

Candidates applying for Office Assistant Multipurpose and Officer scale 1 have to mention their local language preference in online application.After that they can select their regional bank of preference.Candidates for officer scale 2 and officer scale 3 does not have this limitation.They can select any of the bank as their preference.

You should only mention local language in which you can read,write,speak and understand.They do ask questions in Interview to make sure you have knowledge of local language.They may ask you to read newspaper and explain meaning of the text.

IBPS RRB selection format

IBPS RRB has different selection methods for different posts.You should read the selection process carefully and plan your preparation accordingly.For all posts there will be written test.But written test will be divided into two parts Preliminary test and Main exams.

The written test will be online. There is negative marking in IBPS RRB exam.For each wrong answer 1/4th of marks is deducted.Also each section has sectional cut-off.You need to clear sectional cut-off and score above the Total weighted score to qualify for interview.

Preliminary exam

Preliminary exam will be objective in nature.This exam will only take place for Candidates applying for Office Assistant Multipurpose and Officer scale 1 post.You will have to qualify in this exam to get selected for Main exams.The medium of exams will be either English or Hindi.

Office Assistant Multipurpose

Preliminary exam will be of 80 marks.There will be 80 questions.The total time will be 45 mins.There will be two sections Reasoning and Numeric Ability.Each section will have 40 questions.

Officer scale 1

For this post also Preliminary exam will have 80 questions.Each question will be of 1 mark.The total time will be 45 mins.There will be two sections Reasoning and Quantitative Aptitude.Each section will have 40 questions.

Main Exams

Office Assistant multipurpose and Officer scale 1 (Total time 2 hours)

  • Reasoning – Total 40 questions and total marks 50
  • Numeric Ability/Quantitative Aptitude – Total 40 questions and total marks 50
  • General Awareness – Total 40 questions and total marks 40
  • English Language or Hindi Language – Total 40 questions and total marks 40
  • Computer Knowledge – Total 40 questions and total marks 20

Officer scale 2 (General Banking Officer) and Officer Scale 3 (Total time 2 hours)

  • Reasoning – Total 40 questions and total marks 50
  • Quantitative Aptitude and Data Interpretation – Total 40 questions and total marks 50
  • Financial Awareness – Total 40 questions and total marks 40
  • English Language or Hindi Language – Total 40 questions and total marks 40
  • Computer Knowledge – Total 40 questions and total marks 20

Officer scale 2 (Specialist Officer) (Total time 2 and half hours)

  • Reasoning – Total 40 questions and total marks 40
  • Quantitative Aptitude and Data Interpretation – Total 40 questions and total marks 40
  • Financial Awareness – Total 40 questions and total marks 40
  • English Language or Hindi Language – Total 40 questions and total marks 20
  • Computer Knowledge – Total 40 questions and total marks 20
  • Professional Knowledge – Total 40 questions and total marks 40

IBPS RRB exam paper free download

For all the posts mentioned above Quantitative Aptitude,Reasoning,English and Computer are common sections.SO if you have to crack IBPS RRB exams then you should focus on these sections.Except Office scale 2 specialist officer Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning have 50% marks.So if you have to score well in these exams then you should focus on these two topics.Candidates have option to select Hindi or English in language paper.Also Computer knowledge is present in all the posts but the number of marks is less.

But computer can be less time consuming section.Also Financial Awareness and General Awareness sections are less time consuming and candidates can score more marks in less time.So ideally candidates should try out Computer section followed by General Awareness and then rest of the sections.You should first focus to clear the sectional cut-off then try to score more marks.

IBPS RRB interview questions and tips

After clearing the written test candidates are called for Interview.The interview pattern differs for candidates of different scales.For candidates appearing for Office Assistant post and Officer scale 1 ,officer scale 2 (general banking officer) Banking industry knowledge is very important.You will face questions around that.Recent banking news and notifications are very important.

Along with Banking Awareness questions HR questions are also asked.Most of the interview will have questions from either Banking industry or HR topics.Specialist officers may face questions from their topics as well.I have compiled Interview questions along with interview tips for IBPS exams.

    • Yes you can produce experience letter.You can use latest pay slip along with joining letter as experience proof if you are still working there

  2. Hello Mam, I missed to take application print out for IBPS RRB CWE IV office assistant. I have received the call letter for written test. will it be a problem for me in the interview or can i download it during interview. Kindly suggest what needs to be done from my end. Thank you

    • You can not reprint it if the period is over.I would suggest you to focus on written test instead of worrying about application print out

        • They do allow you in interview without application letter in past but it can not be said that they will allow in all cases
